The Dance Co. values the personal information you provide to us and we wouldn’t want to use it in a way that you won’t expect. The information you provide to us

When you provide your information to us directly via our website or on our registration forms we only ask you to supply information that we need in order to provide the service you have requested. We will normally ask you to provide us with:

Your name
Your contact details
Details about your health

You may also provide your information to us via another website for example our Facebook Group and other social media platforms.

How we use your data

We use your personal information in a number of ways to:

provide you with dance classes you have booked
keep you up to date with service information about our classes
administer your classes
administer our accounts

Specifically, we use details about your health so our teachers can make sure you’re not feeling any discomfort or distress during your classes.

We don’t use your data for any other purpose than described in this Privacy Notice.

Who we share your data with

When you fill in our online form your information is stored by our website provider squarespace.com’s servers - this makes it easy for us to contact you via email about the school. Squarespace take every step to secure your data and ensure that it is not accessible by unauthorised individuals.

We also use an email service provider, Mailchimp to distribute our newsletter, manage our email address list and our list of people who have unsubscribed. You can review their privacy notice here. https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

Under some circumstances we may be required to disclose or share your information without your consent, for example if it is in your vital interest such as in a medical emergency, or by the police, the courts or for other legal reasons.

How we keep your personal information safe

We take our obligations to keep your personal data safe and secure very seriously. Within The Dance Co., access to your personal information is strictly controlled on a ‘need to know’ basis.

How long we keep your personal information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need to for providing you with your dance classes and for administration purposes. Typically, this means we need to retain information for accounting purposes for 6-7 years.

How to keep your personal information up-to-date

It’s important for both you and us that your personal information is correct. If you believe the information we hold is incorrect because you’ve changed your email or home address or your phone/mobile number has changed, please let us know during your class or by emailing us at info@lcdance.co.uk .

How you can find out about the information we hold about you

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you.

If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email us using the contact details in this policy.

We will get in contact to verify your identity and if we do hold information about you we will:

tell you why we are holding it
tell you who it could be shared with

Our legal basis for processing your personal information

Much of our processing will be under the basis of a “contractual obligation” in other words we need and use your personal information under contract to provide the classes you want to take part in.If you are under 18 we process your data (including data concerning health) under the explicit consent of your parent or guardian which was provided at the time you registered with The Dance Co.

We will also ask for your consent to take pictures and video during lessons.

Should you wish us to remove your information entirely (and assuming we have no other obligation to keep it) then please let us know and we will do this

What to do if you have a complaint in the way we process your data
